I love to hear this question. The reason being is that if people are asking if it is a scam that means that they are interested in the business.
In short, LightYear Wireless is a legitimate company. It is not a scam. LightYear Wireless is a 15 year old company. They have just recently gone to an MLM format to increase their sales force.
If you are not familiar with MLM, it is the process by which companies create a huge sales force by offering distributorships to regular people. These people will get a percentage of sales and can also increase their income by recruiting and signing up other distributors. This is like getting an ongoing finders fee for helping the company increase their sales force.
Anyways, back to LightYear. This company has an ingenious compensation plan. First of all, they give away cell phones. Every person that signs up as a representative gets a free cell phone. Talk about good marketing. You of course need to maintain a monthly plan. This is what builds residual income for the distributors in the company.
The next thing they do is make every person pay a $49 business fee. You need to pay this fee to get started. The great thing however, is for the $49 they include your first months fee for your website.
The website can sign up customers with cell phones, teach people about the business opportunity, and teach people about the company.
LightYear pays it’s distributors in several ways. It pays between 1-10% on your personal revenue. It then pays 1-4% on 8 levels of compressed revenue.
Next it gives you a signing bonus for each distributor you sign up. This can be from $50-350 for helping a distributor sign up 2 customer points in 30 days. (very easy)
They also pay out up to $24 to their reps of the $49 per month that it costs to operate your wireless website store!!!!
The bottom line is that LightYear Wireless is not a scam. The important thing is to find good leadership that can take you to the next level in your business. Make sure you are working with someone who understands marketing your business on the internet.
